The longer we sit, the stiffer and more rigid we become. The body is meant to move but how often do we find ourselves sitting at our desks or in a stagnant position? The saying is true that if we don’t use it, we lose it. Moving the body in active and intentional ways is vital for pain-free movement and thriving in our ability to progressively adapt and strengthen our tissues. When using the latest techniques for gaining mobility, we can experience what we call a “fluid body”. The ability to be fluid in our movements and not be hindered by tightness or rigidity. These techniques can be designed into an entire practice, or combined into a yoga practice.

In this course Yoga meets Mobility in order to enhance and provide variety in practice. These new tools can be used to support our students in different ways and can strongly support those who have experienced past or ongoing injuries and pain.

Key Topics:

  • Kinstretch

  • PAILS and RAILS

  • Mobility vs Flexibility

  • The Nervous System & Mobility

  • Tissue Adaptation

  • Mobility & Yoga Sequencing

  • Mobility Class Sequencing

Course Learning Outcomes:

  • Differentiate between mobility and flexibility, understanding the importance of both in a yoga and movement practice.

  • Implement mobility techniques effectively to enhance yoga poses and sequences, allowing for a deeper and more controlled range of motion.

  • Apply principles of Kinstretch, a movement enhancement system that focuses on body control, strength, and flexibility into yoga and movement practices.

  • Understand the concepts of Progressive Angular Isometric Loading (PAILS) and Regressive Angular Isometric Loading (RAILS) to improve joint strength and control.

  • Understand the intricate relationship between the nervous system and mobility, learning how to optimize neural pathways for enhanced movement patterns and overall well-being.

  • Develop intentional and strategic yoga sequencing that includes newly learned mobility techniques that support student’s ability to move pain-free and prevent and support their current or long-term injuries.
